Make sure you are in compliance before sending employees abroad.Organizations large and small are sending employees around the world in order to conduct business. Some of these trips are brief; others are for extended periods of time. Each country has its own unique laws relating to these employees - some of which are quite different from those with which U.S. employers are familiar. Risks and penalties vary widely as well, with some penalties falling far outside of regular U.S. practices. However, there are many common themes related to these international assignments and laws that apply no matter where the employees are located. This topic will help attorneys and HR professionals gain an understanding of the issues involved in successfully transferring employees to different countries, including essential points to cover in employment/secondment agreements. Compliance risks and ramifications will be discussed, and the speakers will provide advice and best practice tips to use in their own organizations to encourage and ensure compliance and minimize risk.
